Your plot of land

When I bought my land and started to build my most humble cabin on it, many times I stopped to ponder the idea that I might be under a misconception regarding the safety of my plan. It seems that many of us could be drawn into the idea that this place- where ever you end up squirreling yourself off - is somehow going to be, the end of the road, safe house. I know I had that idea to a lesser degree. I can't say enough on preparing yourself for the possibility that the retreat you have worked so hard on, might need to be abandoned. It may be hard to look at now but trust me- later on, it may come to pass. And a little planning now can save some hardship down the road.
Mostly I look at my places, my retreats as temporary strong holds.
I look at what ever is coming like a battlefield and on a battlefield the front is always changing. You can't say for sure your little slice of paradise won't end up on the front line in someway.
I also can't say enough in training yourself in doing with less or without (and doing that now) and not having to do it under distress. Such as fasting, how long do you think you can do this. What if you where unable to get back to your supplies? How long do you think you can deal with those circumstances. Or lack of heat or shelter. Now is a great time to find out. I know I can get along just fine for at least 18 days on water. I know can live without heat under extreme conditions for a winter if need be. NOT FUN but I know that I can. Knowing that is powerful.
Be ever vigilant, keep your plans even keeled and know what you are personally capable of doing. And train yourself to do those things you may need to do in the future.

Well.. It has been a huge year for me….ever changing with hardly a chance to sit still. Part of it living intensely remote in northern ca. surviving a bear attack, praying the mountain lion would stop hunting outside my front door and escaping the wild fires of the summer.

Spending time with my son in Morro bay- and living there too, at the edge of the sea, waking to the sounds of the sea lions and foghorn.
Being fully immersed in the Renaissance faire, seeing all my old friends there and remembering who I am, hanging out on the ren lot for weeks on end, drinking with brunno and crew, working with Steven overstreet and creating baby Abigail who was a big, great hit at faire! And- made her way on stage!!, not bad for a dead kid!! …. Thanks to Maureen for being a Yoda to me. And to all the new people in my life now; Mary & Doug of Morro bay- really.. Two of the sweetest people and lucky for me to know them and Shelley, Steve and little guy Davie- truly good and caring folk. They are all living lifelines and ambassadors of humanity. Uncle Amy- always working behind the scene for a positive outcome. Thanks for the help Amy!! To RESCU for all of there help to me and everyone!!! Char of Santa Rosa & Michael of Morro Bay - Light of Lights!!!

Perry, for the adventures in kayaking. Even if we did lose the kayak and were stranded for bit….

And all the folk’s in Laytonville- thanks for the memories!!

All said this year has been very reveling, fast, very full, and sweet in many ways.

As always the universe has cared for me in all ways & for this I am grateful.
